Why 42?
On April 15, 1947, Jackie Robinson broke baseball's color barrier wearing No. 42 — and changed far more than a game. His courage created a pathway for generations who would follow.
No. 42 represents courage, opportunity, excellence, sacrifice, perseverance, leadership, and the responsibility to create opportunity for those who come behind you. It is the only number retired across all of Major League Baseball.
The Panther 42 Club honors what Jackie Robinson and No. 42 represent to baseball, opportunity, leadership, and American history — and invests in the young men who will carry that opportunity forward at Clark Atlanta University.
Why I Wear 42
"I wear No. 42 intentionally. Jackie Robinson didn't just change baseball. He changed opportunity.
His courage created a pathway for generations of people who would come behind him. To me, 42 represents excellence, courage, sacrifice and our responsibility to create opportunities for the next generation.
That's why we're building The Panther 42 Club. We're looking for 42 people who believe in what we're building at Clark Atlanta University and who are willing to invest in the young men who will carry that opportunity forward.
